We adopted our dog, Wendy, from a local animal shelter in November of 2009 when she was approximately 8 weeks old. So she’s been with us pretty much her entire life. She is truly a beloved member of our family.
She’s been through a lot these last six years especially – thyroid cancer (twice!) and kidney disease, which was diagnosed in 2022. Yet she continues to amaze us (and her vet) with her strength and determination to thrive and enjoy life.
In May of this year, her blood work showed a new decline in her kidney function as her BUN and creatinine levels had sharply increased. It didn’t look good. Yet I knew that she wasn’t ready to go just yet. So along with the increase in fluid therapy as recommended by her vet, I contacted Cathy to start a healing plan. She ended up receiving three.
The first thing I noticed was that her appetite improved. She began to put on weight again. Her energy levels increased. And by the end of her third plan when we had her blood work done again, her BUN and creatinine had returned to the levels they were back in March/April of this year. Half of what they had been in May. Her vet was thrilled with her results. And we were both relieved and elated.
While she gets many therapies, we believe that the healing plan was integral to her improvement. She continues to eat well and asks for a treat dispensing toy every night. We take things one day at a time and count ourselves blessed by every moment we spend with her. We look forward to celebrating her 15th birthday in September.
Thanks to Cathy and all of the team at Heal with Ease for your support!
